What fits in 10 MB
Ten megabytes holds a short clip in good quality. Longer clips are scaled down to keep each frame clean.
The table uses the rule Auto resolution follows: at least 0.05 bits per pixel at 30 frames per second, plus 96 kbps stereo audio. Busy footage such as sport or water needs more bits than a talking head, so treat the times as a guide.
| Resolution | Longest clip |
|---|---|
| 1080p (1920×1080) | 23 seconds |
| 720p (1280×720) | 50 seconds |
| 480p (854×480) | about 2 minutes |
The 10 MB limit before August 2026
Until 14 August 2026, 10 MB was the largest file a free Discord account could upload. Servers, bots and older guides still mention it, and some other apps use a similar number for small attachments.
If you target Discord today, the Discord page starts at 20 MB. Use this page when 10 MB is the limit you actually face.
Questions
How many minutes fit in 10 MB?
At 480p it holds about 2 minutes, at 720p 50 seconds and at 1080p 23 seconds, based on the quality floor Auto uses.
Is 10 MB still the Discord limit?
No. Discord raised the free limit to 20 MB on 14 August 2026. Ten megabytes is still useful for older rules and small attachments.
Can I get a better picture by removing the sound?
Yes. Turn on Remove audio and the bits that would go to sound go to the picture instead.
Does the result keep my original frame rate?
The tool never raises the frame rate. A 30 frames per second video stays at 30 or lower.
