Compress a video to 50 MB
The target starts at 50 MB, the Discord Nitro Basic limit and a good size for longer clips at 1080p.

Target: 50 MB. You can change it after adding a video. Your video stays on your device.
How it works
- Add your video.
- Check that the custom size reads 50 MB.
- Press Compress. Long videos take longer to encode.
- Download the MP4.
What fits in 50 MB
Fifty megabytes fits a few minutes of 720p video, or a shorter clip at full HD.
The table uses the rule Auto resolution follows: at least 0.05 bits per pixel at 30 frames per second, plus 96 kbps stereo audio. Busy footage such as sport or water needs more bits than a talking head, so treat the times as a guide.
| Resolution | Longest clip |
|---|---|
| 1080p (1920×1080) | about 2 minutes |
| 720p (1280×720) | about 4 minutes |
| 480p (854×480) | about 9 minutes |
Discord Nitro Basic and 50 MB
Discord Nitro Basic raises the upload limit to 50 MB. The Discord Nitro Basic preset on this site uses that size, and this page opens with the same number as a custom size.
If you do not have Nitro, the free limit is 20 MB; compress to that size instead.
Longer videos
At 50 MB the tool often keeps the original resolution up to 1080p. Encoding a long video takes real time because every frame is processed on your device, so leave the tab open and the computer awake.
Questions
Who gets a 50 MB upload limit on Discord?
Members with Discord Nitro Basic. Free accounts have 20 MB.
How long does it take to compress a long video?
It depends on your device. With the browser encoder it is often faster than playing the video. Slower mode is slower, and the tool shows an estimate before it starts.
Can I keep the tab in the background while it works?
Yes. Encoding continues when the tab is hidden, and the progress is correct when you return.
Will the tool use all my memory?
It estimates memory before it starts. If the estimate is above what your device suggests, it warns you and lets you cancel or try anyway.
